Whether you’re looking for a dancefloor or just want to sip a cocktail in a cosy booth, Brisbane has clubs to suit your mood. Here are some of the best.

A right-of-passage Brisbane club, Proey is a mesmerising experience from the moment you walk in. Step down the famously lit-up stairs and you’ll be greeted with a dancefloor that pumps out booming music. Here are a few options to consider besides The Brisbane Club for recreational planning.

The Beat

One of the largest and oldest gay clubs in Australia, The Beat Megaclub offers a wide range of nightlife experiences. With 5 nightspots and 6 bars, there is something here for everyone. The club has a unique atmosphere and is one of the best places to dance in Brisbane. There is a diverse mix of crowds and a huge dance floor. The staff is friendly and helpful. The bar prices are a bit high, but the drinks are well made.

Founded in 1978, the British two-tone ska band The Beat was a key player in the U.K. ska revival of the late ’70s and early ’80s, and their blend of pop melodies and taut rhythms earned them a worldwide cult following. The band reformed in 2003 with original members Dave Wakeling and Ranking Roger (the latter now using his name The English Beat featuring Ranking Roger).

Their second album, Wha’ppen?, topped the charts in Britain but did not perform as well in America as their debut, and Sire dropped the band. Later, the group added keyboardist Dave “Blockhead” Wright for tour dates and recorded a new album, 1982’s Special Beat Service, which featured a more pop-oriented sound. After the Beat disbanded, both Wakeling and Roger continued to field touring versions of their bands. Wakeling’s version released a new album, 2018’s Here We Go Love.

The Wickham

The Wickham is a stylish pub with a friendly atmosphere and a cosmopolitan feel. The bar is open all night and serves food and drinks until late. The pub is also home to a nightclub and game room. The Wickham has a large outdoor beer garden that is a great place to relax and enjoy the company of friends.

The village of Wickham in Hampshire is situated in the Meon Valley and is a beautiful and tranquil setting. This charming village is steeped in history, and the second largest medieval market square in England. It is surrounded by gorgeous countryside with a range of independent shops and tea rooms. There are also a number of great restaurants to choose from.

Formerly known as the Corner Bar and the Studio, The Wickham has been transformed with a hefty renovation. The revamp includes a new Peacock Room and Garland Room, both designed to host events and touring DJs and performers. The pub's beer garden is also newly weather-proof, making it possible to enjoy outdoor acts even during Brisbane's stormy seasons.

The new space, courtesy of Newline Design, aims to balance historic charm with upgrades. Its reopening date isn't set yet, but it should happen before 2022. The Wickham is an LGBTQIA+ pub that celebrates its rich heritage while creating a safe and contemporary space for all. It's also the home of Big Gay Day, Brisbane's annual LGBTQIA+ street party.

The City

Brisbane is the capital of the Australian state of Queensland. Its central business district is home to numerous skyscrapers and pedestrian malls, including the Queen Street Mall. The City Hall and the City Library are located in George Street. The City of Brisbane is governed by a council, which consists of five members elected to staggered terms of four years each. The City Council adopts ordinances and resolutions, approves the budget, and acts as a board of appeals.

The City of Brisbane is a cultural center with many museums and galleries. Its South Bank cultural precinct features the Queensland Museum and Sciencentre, which is among Australia’s premier interactive museums. It also includes the Queensland Gallery of Modern Art, which is one of Australia’s leading contemporary art museums. Other major museums are the Queensland Performing Arts Centre, the Judith Wright Arts Centre, and the Brisbane Powerhouse.

Brisbane is a popular destination for international tourists and domestic visitors. It has a thriving shopping, dining, and accommodation scene. Its restaurants range from intimate cafes in hidden laneways to fine-dining establishments. Its hotel accommodation options include luxury resorts and heritage-listed buildings. It also has an extensive bus and rail network. The City is also home to several professional sports teams, including the Brisbane Broncos and the Queensland Maroons. The city also has a large number of recreational parks, including the City Botanic Gardens and Wickham Park.

The Powerhouse

The Powerhouse is an imposing brick structure built on the riverside in New Farm Park. It served as the power supply for the Brisbane tram network until it was decommissioned in 1971 and converted into a cultural arts complex. Despite its change of function, the building retains many links with its previous life and a rugged presence that makes it an icon of Brisbane.

The powerhouse is home to a variety of performances, exhibitions, and educational programs. The venue also houses a restaurant and bar. The Powerhouse is a popular destination for locals and tourists alike. In addition to hosting a variety of events, The Powerhouse is also home to the Queensland Performing Arts Centre and is one of the best places to see live theatre in Brisbane.

RIXONDESIGN was commissioned to design and implement a permanent lighting solution for this iconic facade. The facade’s high front walls demand a light source with a wide beam distribution and tight glare control, which was only possible using powerful LED fixtures. The result is a system that highlights the façade’s unique texture and differently shaded bricks while respecting the surrounding properties.

The Powerhouse offers a number of accessibility services for patrons including level access to the Stores building, lift access to all levels of the theatre and wheelchair accessible toilets. There is also a drop off area in the car park and level access to the Powerhouse complex from the river plaza.
