Duplicate transactions in QuickBooks have been evolving as a major and recurring issue among accountants. The double entry issue can be caused due to different reasons in QuickBooks. The article encloses the various causes and fixes to resolve duplicate transactions in QuickBooks desktop.

Procedure to Remove Duplicate Transactions in QB (Double Entry)

Perform the following steps to accomplish the removal of the duplicate transaction error:

Web:

  • Open QuickBooks Self-employed and then go to “Transactions” tab.

  • In case of duplicate transactions, opt for the “Delete Duplicate Transactions” option.

  • Take note of the transaction copy you want to keep; and soon after, hit on “Keep marked transactions”.

 

Application:

  • At first, head to the “Transactions” tab

  • Hit on “View” on the warning notification related to duplicate transactions.

  • Make selection of the duplicate transactions to keep.

  • Then, click on “Keep Marked Transactions”.

  • Ensure exclusion of “QuickBooks Duplicate Downloaded Transactions” option.

  • The balances will match if you exclude the downloaded QuickBooks duplicate transactions. Subsequently, reconciliation can be done after that. Avoiding such transactions is possible by:

  • Head to the “Banking” tab.

  • Opt for the transactions you want to keep out of the Review tab.

  • Hit on “Exclude Selected” from the Batch Actions.
