Festa della Liberazione, also known as Liberation Day, is a significant national holiday celebrated in Rome and throughout Italy. It commemorates the end of German occupation during World War II and the end of Fascist authority in Italy (Benito Mussolini was shot 3 days later).

Due to the national holiday, businesses such as banks and schools are closed. Tourist attractions are open.
