Fildena is a prescription medicine used to treat erectile dysfunction (ED). It works by increasing the flow of blood to your penis and helps you get and keep an erection. It also increases your sex drive, which can increase the quality and amount of your sexual activity.

Fildena comes as a tablet that you take by mouth, usually about an hour before you plan to have sex. It should not be taken more than once a day, and you can't have it right before or after other medicines.

Before you start taking Fildena, talk to your doctor about the medications you're already taking. Many prescription medicines can cause or worsen ED. They include some that are used to treat high blood pressure, migraine headaches and other conditions. Some antidepressants, such as selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs), can cause ED as a side effect.

Other medications that can affect erectile function include a class of drugs called phosphodiesterase type 5 inhibitors, including Fildena. They block the enzyme PDE5, which keeps nitric oxide from flowing to your penis and causing an erection.

Several studies have found that taking Fildena improves a man's ability to have and keep an erection. In some studies, the drug had better results than a placebo (a pill without any active ingredient).

Some other drugs that may affect ED include cimetidine, an acid reflux medication; and a class of drugs called beta-blockers, which are used to control heart rate and blood pressure. Some other drugs, such as estrogens, can also lead to ED.

If you are taking sildenafil to treat ED, make sure you follow your doctor’s directions and guidelines. You can take it any time from 4 hours to 30 minutes before sexual activity, but you should not take it more than once a day. You can also take it with or without food, but a high-fat meal may delay how quickly it starts to work.

Erectile dysfunction is a common condition that can affect your sex life and cause emotional problems and stress. It can be caused or aggravated by many things, including certain medical conditions, depression, anxiety and unhealthy lifestyle habits. It can also be a side effect of some prescription medicines, such as those used to treat high blood pressure or migraines.
