Careprost eye drop functions by boosting the natural flow of tear fluid out of the eye, hence reducing intraocular pressure. Bimatoprost ophthalmic, the active ingredient, is a member of the class of drugs known as prostaglandin analogs.  Squeeze a drop of medication into the affected eye by holding the dropper above the eye, then shut it. To prevent the liquid from draining into the tear duct, gently place a finger on the inner corner of the eye for approximately one minute. Applying careprost to the afflicted eye should be done as prescribed by a physician, usually once a day in the evening. The appropriate dosage and duration of treatment should be determined by a physician, as these factors are dependent on the patient's condition and medication reaction.
