Step 1: Renaming the DAT and DDF files to fix the issue 

For resolving the QuickBooks freezes issue, the user can carry out the steps below and rename DAT and DDF files. 

  • The first step is to close the company file on all the system.

  • And then, the user needs to find the company directory and rename DAT to OLDUSERPREF.DAT. 

  • After that, delete each of the file having DDF extension. 

  • Also, from the same directory, the user needs to open the company and click on confirm to save the payments. 

  • The last step is to click on print to print successfully. 

Step 2: Create a portable company file

  • From File in the upper left-hand corner, click Create Copy.

  • Choose Portable company file then Next.

  • Select the location where you want to save the portable copy.

  • Click Save and OK button.
