2020 Alabama Crimson Tide

That Alabama squad from 2020 was amazing. Things were thrown off that year due to COVID-19, but you could argue that this Alabama squad had even more challenges since they only played SEC games. Mac Jones started as quarterback, DeVonta Smith, the Heisman Trophy winner, at wide receiver, and Najee Harris in the backfield for that squad. Steve Sarkisian was still the offensive coordinator for that club, by the way. Throughout the whole season, Alabama's only other game decided by 14 points or less was the SEC championship matchup with Florida. They easily won the playoffs, defeating a formidable Ohio State squad 52–24 in the national title match.

2019 LSU Tigers

The No. 4 team in this playoff round is the LSU Tigers of 2019. Because of their poor defense, they are ranked fourth. However, that group went on one of the most impressive offensive runs in college football history. They defeated Clemson 42–25 in the national championship game, winning 15-0. That performance was amazing. The average margin of victory for Clemson was 26.5. They had Justin Jefferson, Clyde Edwards-Helaire, Ja'Marr Chase, and Heisman Trophy winner Joe Burrow. That group was an incredible machine. They defeated Alabama in Tuscaloosa, even though that squad had a lot of talent. They are the No. 4 seed because of this.

2004 USC Trojans

With Matt Leinart as quarterback, Reggie Bush as running back, Dwayne Jarrett as wide receiver, and Pete Carroll as head coach, this was the squad that had never lost. Adrian Peterson's first-year team defeated a very good Oklahoma squad. They won every game by an average of 25 points, and they concluded the year 13-0. This was not the 2005 USC club; this was a superior defensive unit. Though they played several tight games, they were a quality squad. The year previous, they had shared the national crown, but they returned and excelled in 2004.

2005 Texas Longhorns

That Texas squad from 2005 was incredible. Since I had to face them twice during my last year at Colorado, I am well familiar with their squad. We had already faced them once in Austin, and we were going to play them again in the Big 12 title game. They defeated us, 70–3. The finest football player I've ever seen in person was Vince Young. They had two Thorpe Award winners in their secondary, Michael Huff and Aaron Ross, and they played excellent defense. USC's winning run was broken in the Rose Bowl against the Longhorns.

2001 Miami Hurricanes

Many people believe that the Miami Hurricanes of 2001 are the greatest squad of this century. They defeated Nebraska in the national title game, going 12-0 overall. During that season, the Hurricanes' average margin of victory was more than thirty points. Ed Reed, Andre Johnson, and Ken Dorsey were among them. That group has a lot of talent. Out of the 22 players on this squad, eleven were selected in the first round of the draft. They were amazing.
