An Anterior Cervical Discectomy and Fusion (ACDF) is a surgical procedure used to treat neck pain caused by a herniated disc or degenerative disc disease. During the procedure, the surgeon will make an incision in the lower neck, remove the damaged disc, and replace it with a small piece of bone or an artificial disc. The bone or artificial disc will help to stabilize the spine and reduce neck pain. After the procedure, the surgeon will use small screws and plates to hold everything in place. ACDF surgery is usually an outpatient procedure and typically takes around 1-2 hours to complete. Recovery time varies, but it usually takes 4-6 weeks before patients can return to their regular activities.
